Crossing the Pond for Gluten-Free Food

Source: glutenfreepsd.wordpress.com

One of my favorite things about blogging is meeting gluten-free people from across the globe. I was pleasantly surprised to meet Paul Degnan, a gluten-free blogger from the UK, in Connecticut last month. He decided to make a side trip to Stamford for the Gluten Free Food Allergy Fest during his vacation to New York City. He came up to say hello when he first entered and then joined my Gluten-Free Globetrotter: How to Plan Your Gluten-Free Vacation seminar on Sunday morning. Thank you Paul for saying hello!

Paul’s website GlutenFreePSD gives a ton of great information from a British point of view. He includes restaurant reviews, recipes, product reviews, and his travel experiences. I loved reading about Paul’s day in Connecticut and seeing the American gluten-free scene through his eyes.

Gluten-Free Travel Prep for Paris

Paris Eiffel Tower
Source

I have been researching gluten-free in Paris for years now with the hopes of finally traveling there one day. Well, that time has come and I am Gluten-Free Globetrotting off to France later this week. I have a long list of patisseries, épicieries, and markets that I plan on visiting during my trip!

Much of my research has come from gluten-free bloggers, Twitter friends, and even Instagrammers. The information these people have given me have helped me plan where to eat, where to shop, and even where to stay. While France doesn’t seem like the easiest place to be gluten-free, I do feel more confident with this information at my fingertips.

If you are planning a trip to France, I highly recommend following these people! They all have personal experience living, eating, and traveling gluten-free in Paris.

I plan to share my gluten-free travel experiences and maps of Paris when I return. In the meantime, please share any additional gluten-free blogs about Paris with me in the comments section below!

Gluten-Free Globetrotter Turns Three!

globeSomehow, I missed my own blog anniversary. I had just gotten back from another trip to Portland, Oregon and was busy packing for Madison, Wisconsin. In the midst of Gluten-Free Globetrotting, I missed this major milestone!

On May 1, 2011, Gluten-Free Globetrotter was born shortly after I returned from Prague, Czech Republic. While I was in Prague, I was inspired to share my gluten-free travel stories with others. I was VERY far from home in a country where the language was about as different from English that I had ever experienced in my travels. Despite the distance and the language barriers, I navigated Prague and the Czech countryside with gluten-free ease. I was in my 33rd year of life with 30 years of living gluten-free under my belt. If I could travel with Celiac Disease anyone could!

In the past three years, this blog has grown into something I couldn’t have imagined three years ago. I have published 143 posts, have received hundreds of reader comments, have connected with so many of you via email, Twitter, Facebook, and even in person. I have joined an international traveling celiac/coeliac community that I could never have dreamed of when I first launched Gluten-Free Globetrotter. I was interviewed by publications in the United StatesSpain and Argentina. I have featured guest blog posts from Beirut, Buenos Aires, Amsterdam, Japan, and many more exciting places I have not yet traveled myself. I have traveled to five additional countries and added two new continents (see all of my travels here) to my travelogue. I have met many of you at my speaking engagements across the Northeast United States, excited that so many of you share my passion for travel while living with Celiac Disease. I really cannot express my gratitude for your support, readership, and travel stories. They mean the world to me! 🙂

As I look ahead for Gluten-Free Globetrotter, there are a lot of exciting things in the works. A major redesign of the blog is coming! The content will continue to document my travels, gluten-free travel tips, and your guest blog posts, but will also include more resources to help you with your gluten-free travels. I am planning more gluten-free group trips such as my Gluten-Free Gourmet Retreat at Good Commons. I also have a big project I have been brainstorming for a while and I am moving forward with that as well. Details to come. I encourage you to stay tuned, continue leaving your awesome comments, and travel the world while thriving with Celiac.

Thank you for all of your support of Gluten-Free Globetrotter over the past few years. Here’s to many more gluten-free travel years ahead for all of us!

Gluten-Free Globetrotter Now on Pinterest

I am slow to the Pinterest game, but it looks like a cool social media tool. I recently launched a Gluten-Free Travel board and would love for you to check it out. Are you on Pinterest? How do you use it? Like I said, I am new on Pinterest, so if you have any pinning tips I would love to hear them!
