Gluten-Free Tours & Getaways 2017

In the past week, I’ve learned about three great gluten-free friendly trips across the globe. There had been a lull in these types events for a while, but I am excited to see more gluten-free accommodating tours and cruises being organized.

166A few years back, I hosted a Gluten-Free Gourmet Getaway weekend at Good Commons in Vermont. This was a worry-free weekend where everything was 100% gluten-free. It truly was a wonderful experience as I am sure many of these trips below will be. This kind of travel helps put your mind at ease as many of the food details are already figured out for you. In many cases, you might also have a local guide who can help translate your dietary needs to the local restaurants.

Win 2 Tickets to GFFAFest in Portland

I can’t believe it is almost October and that I am heading back to Portland this weekend for the first time in more than 2 years. I used to go to Portland, Oregon regularly for work every four to six weeks from New York City for THREE YEARS. To say this burned me out would be an understatement! Now that my work Portland is in the past, fun Portland is only two days away. I can’t wait to eat my way through one of my most favorite gluten-free friendly cities in the world. You can see all of my previous Portland posts here.

I am speaking at the Gluten-Free Food Allergy Fest both Saturday and Sunday. Join me at 10:30am to hear all about my top gluten-free travel tips and how to navigate locally and beyond while maintaining a gluten-free diet. I will also be at blogger booth #331 both days. Please stop by and say hello. I would love to meet you! Can’t make it? Follow along on social media with the hashtag #GFFAFest.

Gluten-Free Friendly Restaurants in St. John’s, Newfoundland

One week from today, I will be touring around St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada for the very first time. I am so excited to be in a new city and especially excited to attend the Canadian Celiac Association National Conference, the real purpose of my trip.

None of my gluten-free travels are complete without eating my way through the new city. I reached out to my Gluten-Free Globetrotter Facebook friends as well as the Canadian Celiac Association Facebook followers for suggestions of where to eat gluten-free food while in St. John’s. The response was so great and I have a long list of places to eat while in St. John’s.

To view the fully compiled list, please visit the Canadian Celiac Association conference website.

Note from the CCA: This list is compiled by people who have had experiences eating at restaurants in St. John’s. Many restaurants do not have dedicated gluten free menus but many such as the chain restaurants have their menus marked. Most restaurants in the St. John’s area can accommodate gluten free especially if you call ahead of time. This list is not exhaustive.

Note from me: Be sure to remember to speak to your waitstaff, manager, and/or chef if you have any questions or concerns about your meal!

Gluten-Free Globetrotter Travel News: June 2016

Gluten-Free Travel June

Time has just flown by this year and it is already June 1st. Wow! It’s been almost five months that I have been living in California and I have been missing New York City a lot lately. Summer in NYC was always my favorite season. I made my first trip outside of CA since moving here to Wisconsin via Utah last month. I will definitely be back to Salt Lake City, the flight in was gorgeous. Finally, I’ve been exploring the California coast and redwood forests as well as San Francisco. They are as different as can be but nothing short of amazing. Weekend day-trips are becoming a favorite pastime!

I have a very busy summer of travel ahead of me and I hope we cross paths at one of my upcoming events. In the meantime, here are some great travel stories that have come across my desk in the past month.
