My Travels

My travels started with my family but in the 20s I was bitten by the “solo travel” bug and I never looked back. I was nervous at first, but I realized quickly that traveling solo is really liberating. I think you learn a lot about yourself and others while traveling solo and I fully encourage it! Now, I am traveling the world with my family.

I love the organizing, researching, and mapping out of gluten-free destinations when planning a vacation. I am happy to give you tips and suggestions on any of the places I have been below.

  1. Ever been to Budapest, Hungary? I am going in November. Was there several years ago and survived.

  2. Erin, I found the Drop Restaurant in Budapest the first night I was there and even went back the next night for dinner. It was a great little restaurant, very modern and good food. I even heard from the waiter that they were not allowed to bring gluten into the restaurant. I also found another restaurant that was all gluten free and had been in operation for 3 or 4 years. It is called Koles Restaurant. It was a little less enticing, because it had a cafeteria style approach to serving and was a lot smaller, but the food was decent and less expensive than the Drop.
Thanks for the information. It was not hard to eat gluten free in Budapest at all. I even had pasta at an Italian restaurant.

  3. Can you share your Madison, Wi experiences and safe havens? My wife is 5 months into Celiac. We know enough now that travel is terrifying and always a challenge.

  4. Have you been to St. Marten island? I am presently with my daughter. We would like suggestions for gluten free restaurants. Do you know any?

    1. Hi Caroline, thanks for your note. Unfortunately, I have never been to St. Marten. I would suggest eating seafood without any seasonings and asking for a clean grill pan.

  5. Hi, I love your FB posts and checked there before visiting your website. Can you recommend your favorite dining spots in the Turks and Caicos (specifically Provos), please?
