Gluten-Free Globetrotter: 40 and Fabulous

Today is my 40th birthday. As I write those words, I honestly cannot believe I am turning 40 today. Where does the time go? I was bitten by the travel bug in my 20s and never looked back! This weekend, I celebrated with some wine tasting in Santa Cruz, California and a hike at the newly re-opened Mount Umunhum. Hiking my way into a new decade was a great idea.

As I was putting together this post, I was trying to think of what really defined me in my 30s and travel was most definitely at the top of my list. So much so, that I launched Gluten-Free Globetrotter 7 years ago this month! I knew I wanted to share my gluten-free travel adventures from around the globe but I never imagined the opportunities this blog would bring me and the wonderful people I would meet around the world.

I really have so many favorite travel memories that I can’t pick just one. That would be like a parent picking a favorite child! Since launching this blog, I’ve been to the Czech Republic, Canada (a few times), Aruba, Thailand, England, Wales, Scotland, Costa Rica, Mexico (a few times), and France. I been to countless states and even drove cross-country from New York to California. As someone living with celiac disease since 1981, every single one of these travels have been 100% gluten-free! (For a more detailed peek at where I’ve been, visit My Travels page.)

In addition to all of the places I’ve been, I hold dear to my heart the people that I have met along the way. This blog has really introduced me to a world of gluten-free travelers, many of whom now I proudly call my friends. These celiac bloggers, Instagrammers, and even people who email and comment on a weekly basis keep me going. You inspire me as much as I hope I inspire you! I can’t wait to meet even more of you as I travel the globe and we cross paths along the way. Passing through the Bay Area this spring? Drop me a line!

Thank you all for “traveling” with me through my seven years of Gluten-Free Globetrotter and following along on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. I truly appreciate all of you. Here’s to the next decade… but first, CAKE! (Gluten-free, of course)
