TravelSupermarket.com, an international travel booking site, put together a list of their top 10 gluten-free friendly cities based on restaurant reviews and bloggers across the globe. I have been to 6 of the 10 cities on this list. I am very surprised that New York City didn’t make this list but not surprised at all about Portland or Denver, both of which are gluten-free friendly cities.
What do you think of this list? Are any of your top gluten-free friendly cities missing?

Great post! I would agree that it’s strange that NYC isn’t on the list, but I would also add Buenos Aires (BIO) and San Diego (various options). Happy Travels. 🙂
Hi Erin, We were in Budapest Hungary this past summer and found a gluten free restaurant there. The owner has Celiac, such a nice guy, and everything in the restaurant was GF. I even got to eat French fries. Name of the place is DROP and here is website: http://www.droprestaurant.com
This restaurant is close to the Opera House in Budapest.

Hi Erin, I am a spanish mum of two coeliac kids (7 and 4 years old). I started reading your blog because we like travel a lot and you have really good tips. I want to leave here that Spain is a really good country for gluten free diet. There are lot of places with gluten-free menu and in almost every restaurant they know what is the coeliac condition and can make a simple meal with no problem and guaranteed (omelettes, grilled meat or chicken, fish, ice creams, some desserts…). All medium-big supermarkets have a lot of gluten-free products, the spanish regulation obligates to mark all the gluten-free products with “SIN GLUTEN”, everything marked with it is suitable for coeliacs.
We have been in NY last september and we were very surprised because it was not easy to find guaranteed gluten free places, supermarkets, etc…It is true that we were only 4 days and we spent all our time in Manhattan but we thought it would be as easier as in Spain or at least easier than it was. We were astonished that in the Mac Donalds there wasn´t a gluten free menu!! In Spain a lot of Mac Donalds has this option (with gluten free bun, fries are always fried in separate frying machines, they can eat regular fries or the other type too, sundies are gluten free, a lot of toppings too…). So I just wanted to encourage everyone that reads this blog to come to Spain, you will not have any problem with your diet!

Great info Erin! I think you should have Baltimore, MD on this list with 5 completely GF places. One Dish Cuisine Cafe, Deli & Bakery in suburbs of Baltimore, in downtown Baltimore there is Sweet 27 Cafe & Bakery, Polenta Cafe, Points South Latin Cafe and Harmony Bakery!
