I am keeping my finger on the pulse of all things gluten-free in New York City and I am excited to see so many completely gluten-free places continuing to open across the city.

Note: While these restaurants are no-gluten establishments, it is still very important to inform your server about your dietary restrictions! Also call ahead to make a reservation and confirm hours of operation.

  1. I haven’t tried most of these places but I do know Senza Gluten is really good. I am so happy more places are keeping a gluten free lifestyle in mind these days. I am unhappy however that Risotteria in the Village closed. They were really good and seemed to care about the GF community.

  2. We just went to NIX on University Place. I had stopped by on two occasions and spoke to two different people who each explained that my husband has celiac. They readily assured me that when they cook for a celiac they do so in a separate area of the kitchen and with clean tools etc. so there’s no danger of cross-contamination. The server pointed out which of the dishes were gluten free (it’s a vegetarian restaurant). We had a lovely meal with no ill effects. My husbands diagnosis is recent. The restaurant opened just a few months ago and it’s tough to get a reservation!

  3. Perfect timing. We’re headed to the City in late July and I’m just now starting my research. My goal is to find a nice coffee shop or cafe with a decent GF muffin or pastry.
