Guest Post: Where to Eat Gluten-Free in Buenos Aires

This is a guest post by Sofía Lunazzi, a journalist from Argentina. I learned about Sofía through Carolina Rocha, the founder and editor of Aglutenados, a gluten-free publication  in Argentina.

Sintaxis
www.sintaxispalermo.com
A new restaurant in the touristic Palermo neighborhood, where you can get a  whole gluten free menu. You will be able to taste pasta, famous Argentine meat, dessert and more. Lovely environment.
Pros: they have a backyard, where you can eat breakfast or lunch in the open.
Cons: they only serve dinner on Thursdays and Fridays.

Tea Connection
www.teaconnection.com.ar
This was the first restaurant where I ate a gluten free meal. They serve only natural food, which includes salads, stews and juice, among others.
Pros: they have several restaurants all over the city (you may check them on their web page).
Cons: they only offer one gluten free dessert.

Los Sauces
www.asadorlossauces.com
Excellent place to eat meat, you can also taste pasta, empanadas and desserts.
Pros: it’s one of those places where tables are big and you can celebrate a big event with friends and family.
Cons: they don’t accept credit cards.

McDonald’s
www.mcdonalds.com.ar
As a result of the hard work of the celiac associations, the famous restaurant chain, in Argentina, offers gluten free menus. We can eat hamburgers, salad, ice cream and French fries.
Pros: you already know you’ll like it. McDonald’s tastes the same everywhere.
Cons: they don’t have gluten free buns, so you have to eat the hamburger with fork and knife.

About Sofía Lunazzi

Hi! I’m a 23 year old Argentinean journalist and copywriter. Diagnosed as a celiac in 2009, I write for Aglutenados, a magazine about gluten-free life.

My favorite food is pasta and ice cream. Luckily, I’ve found gluten-free alternatives for both.

  1. Love Sofia’s nearly one-liners with Pro and Con for each restaurant. BU, Brazil and Argentina were on our travel list already. Thanks for posting. Gluten-free direct. Great.

  2. Hi celiac mates!! I am from Buenos Aires Argentina and this place is a must on the gluten-free list: LA PASTRONERIA, El Salvador 6026, Buenos Aires city.
    Cheers!!
